Acer forgoes a dedicated GPU in the Aspire 5 A515-45-R4R1, which isn't very surprising considering its price. Instead, the AMD Radeon RX Vega 8 (Ryzen 4000) onboard GPU of the AMD Ryzen 7 5700U is used. 512 MB out of the total 8 GB of RAM are assigned to this GPU by default and the maximum core clock speed is 1900 MHz.

However, in our test the GPU leaves an impression that is anything other than fast. Acer doesn't even come close to making use of its full potential, as is shown in the meager benchmark results. Changing the setting in the AMD Radeon software from "Standard" to "Games" hardly brings any noticeable changes, and some of the scores were even reduced by this.

Probably this performance is not only owed to a defensive configuration to control the battery life and noise volume, but the small 8 GB amount of single-channel working memory, which is also slow at a 1600 MHz clock speed (3200 MHz being the effective frequency), should also have an effect of limiting the performance while gaming. However, the working memory can optionally also be upgraded.

At least, the graphics performance remains almost stable during the stress test (3DMark Time Spy Stress Test: 98.7%). It also remains the same in battery operation, as a hardly changed result of 3DMark 11 (4167 points) shows.
